The Babysitter's Training Course is provided by the American Red Cross. Empower the next generation of babysitters with our Babysitter’s Training course! Designed for youth ages 11-16, this program builds the skills and confidence to care for children and infants safely and responsibly. Digital Certificates will be send to each participant via email after the successful completion of the class. All materials will be provided. Please bring lunch/snack as there will be a lunch period. The class will be held at the Community Center starting at 8:30am and ending at 2:30pm.
Here are few objectives of the class:
· Build important skills such as leadership, role modeling, discovering motivation, communication, taking action and decision making.
· Apply the FIND decision-making model to common babysitting situations.
· Use safe and appropriate techniques for finding babysitting jobs.
· Enhance safety at home by spotting potential issues, learning how to prevent them, and quickly taking action to ensure a safe environment.
· Identify who to call and when to call in different emergency situations.
· Describe how to check a conscious child or infant.
· Demonstrate caregiving skills: Pick up and holding an infant and toddler, Bottle/spoon-feed an infant, Diaper an infant or toddler, help a conscious child or infant who is choking
