Reports To: Recreation Director/Camp Directors


Position Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic Summer Camp Counselors and Senior Counselors to provide a safe, engaging, and memorable camp experience for children entering Kindergarten through 8th grade. Counselors will lead activities, supervise campers, foster positive relationships, and serve as role models while ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of all participants.
Key Responsibilities


Camper Supervision & Safety
Supervise and actively engage campers at all times.
Ensure the safety and well-being of campers during all activities, transitions, and free time.
Enforce camp rules and behavior expectations consistently and respectfully.
Follow all safety procedures and emergency protocols.
Administer basic first aid when needed and report incidents to camp directors promptly.

Activity Planning & Facilitation
Lead and participate in daily activities such as arts & crafts, sports, STEM projects, team-building games, outdoor adventures, and themed events.
Adapt activities to meet the developmental needs of campers ranging from Kindergarten to 8th grade.
Encourage participation, teamwork, creativity, and sportsmanship.
Assist in planning and preparing materials for activities.

Relationship Building
Serve as a positive role model for campers.
Build supportive, respectful relationships with children of varying ages and backgrounds.
Promote inclusion, kindness, and conflict resolution.
Communicate effectively with fellow staff and camp leadership.


Team Collaboration
Work cooperatively with co-counselors and other camp staff.
Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
Support overall camp operations, including setup, cleanup, and special events.

Qualifications
Preferred/Required:
Minimum age as required by state regulations.
Experience working with children (babysitting, tutoring, coaching, camp experience, etc.).
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Previous camp counseling experience.
Skills in sports, arts, music, STEM, or outdoor education.

Schedule
Seasonal position during summer months (June 29-August 7)
Monday–Friday 8:30am-3:30pm
Mandatory pre-camp evening meeting in early June. (date and time TBD)
