Teen Counselor positions for the Farmville Summer Day program.

Youth interested in serving as Teen Counselors must be at least 16 years old by January 1st. to be eligible to apply and must be available to attend scheduled training sessions. An application for the position must be submitted with your registration.

The Summer Day Camp program runs seven to eight weeks each year and consists of field trips, physical activity, learning experiences, and socialization opportunities. Camp counselors aid in the supervision and guidance of campers during programming. Counselors also assist Parks and Recreation staff to facilitate activities and program evaluation to help improve the camp program for participants.

Potential Counselors will participate in training sessions and then participate in an interview process to be selected for summer employment. All participants can assist with Parks and Recreation programming throughout the calendar year.  Only 6 counselors will be selected for the summer camp.  If selected, you will be provided with counselor shirts to wear each day.

•    The Parks and Recreation Scholarship exists to help provide access to fee-based programs and services for customers needing financial assistance. 
•    Staff will evaluate the circumstance on a case-by-case basis and determine eligibility. Also, the applicant must reside in Prince Edward County.
•    The scholarship is not valid for special events, adult league sports, and classes.

2026 Summer Day Camp Registration

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: MAY 8th, 2026

Early Bird Registration: March 2nd to April 10th, 2026

(If applying for a scholarship, please fill out the scholarship form first and wait for scholarship approval before registering for Summer Camp.

Campers who are 14-15 years of age are eligible to participate as Counselors in Training. Counselors in Training are able to sign up at a discounted rate for summer camp ($50 per week). Please contact the Parks and Recreation Department to assist in applying the rate to eligible campers.

We cannot accept any registrations after the posted deadline. 

All destinations are potentially subject to change due to weather or program rescheduling.

Lunches are provided, but campers may bring their own. Please be mindful of peanut allergies. Campers should bring a water bottle, swimwear, a towel, a change of clothes, sunscreen, closed-toe shoes, and extra snacks if desired.
