New Paltz/Gardiner Seniors Group
New Paltz/Gardiner Seniors Group

The Senior Citizens Club of New Paltz and Gardiner is a group of seniors from the local communities that come together on the second Wednesday of the month at the community center to socialize, be entertained or be informed on many different subjects. We have an annual picnic in June at the Field of Dreams and a Holiday celebration in December. We have two bus trips a year for lunch and some form of entertainment. We also meet on the fourth Wednesday of the month for lunch or breakfast at various local restaurants.

As always, new Members are welcome to join our highly active club. We write newsletters, we socialize, we get entertained and go on trips.

UPCOMING SPEAKERS AND PERFORMERS

May 13th: Performer Candace L. Coates plays Irish Celtic Harp.

Candace was born and raised in Dutchess County New York. She has played the Celtic harp since 1993. Like many of her own students, Candace started playing the Celtic harp as an adult and is mostly self taught. Candace has had many years of experience performing in a traditional Irish band "Rising of the Moon" which to her surprise earned her a mention in a work of best selling non-fiction "Little Chapel on the River" by Ms. Gwendolyn Bounds.

Ms. Coates has played in a variety of venues ranging from performing outdoors in public spaces to more formal events. In the latter part of 2015, Candace founded a school harp program for Saint Therese Classical Learning Academy in Middletown, NY. In late November of that year she became a harp teacher for Dutchess Community Collage.

Currently, Candace offers a variety of harp related special programs. She continues to teach private harp lesson by appointment.

June 10th: Annual Picnic at the Field of Dreams Pavilion.

July 8th: Speaker Jeff Cierniak will give a talk on the trains of WWII.
