Spend the week with Oak Island’s public safety teams! Filled with hands-on elements such as fire safety, CPR training, thermal imaging cameras, and water rescue techniques; this camp is perfect for aspiring adventure seekers. Led by Oak Island Fire Department, campers will also enjoy a behind the scenes look into daily life at departments including fire, law enforcement, water rescue, emergency medical response teams and more. Due to the physical nature of the activities held at camp each day, participants should wear comfortable clothing and closed toed/ non-slip shoes such as tennis shoes. Lunch is provided, though allergy needs must be indicated at the time of registration. Participants will take part in a variety of activities and exercises related to the production of a theatrical performance. This may include such activities as role-playing, set and costume design.

Participants will perform the play Snow White – A Fractured Fairy Tale. Campers will be assigned roles based on their interests and the needs of the production. All children will have some speaking lines, some more than others. Campers may also have other roles in the production.

On the final day of the camp, after the performance, we will tear down and put away all materials, watch a video of the production, and have a pizza party. After that, we will visit the splash pad in the afternoon.

The performance will be on July 25 at 7pm.

Campers will be introduced to the fun of sailing through classroom education and sailing in Dutchman’s Creek. Learn to “ride the wind” in youth sized Optimist dinghies (single handed with student weight < 120 pounds). Campers will learn boating basics, rigging, right of way rules, points of sail and sailboat maneuvers. We will also be covering new STEM skills each week of camp.  Must be able to swim and pass swim test that is given the first day of camp.
