The Oak Island Farmers' & Artisans' Market is a great opportunity for the public to see and financially support the very best of Oak Island's local growers and crafters. Farmers and artisans alike can be found in this great showcase of baked goods, produce, handmade crafts, and artistic goods.  This market takes place on Monday mornings and runs from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM each market day.  

Located steps away from the Kevin Bell Skate Park, Pirate Ship Playground, Oak Island Splash Pad, and just across the street from the beach; it's the perfect outing for the entire family. FREE to Participate

Join Oak Island for the 8th Annual Doggie Egg-stravaganza at the Salty Dog Park inside Bill Smith Park.  There will be many special prizes and yummy treats hidden inside eggs around the park.  There will be separate hunts provided for dogs over and under 20 lbs.  Pets must be up to date on their vaccinations to participate.  No need to register ahead of time.  We will see you at the Park!

About

  The Oak Island Recreation Department and The Adventure Kayak Company will be sponsoring our Annual Ride the Tide Community Float down the Davis Canal on May 17, 2025.  It will consist of a 5.2 mile float from 39th Place West Boat Ramp to the Oak Island Recreation Kayak Launch (SE 31st St.)

  The Davis Canal is a calm and scenic waterway and the float will take place as the tide is flowing with the paddlers.  Trip difficulty is:  Easy.

Rentals 

Kayaks are available to rent from the Adventure Kayak Company ($30 single/$50 double) (910) 454-0607.  The Oak Island Recreation Department will have kayaks available to be rented as well.  Limited amount.  Please check with the Adventure Kayak company first.   Rental cutoff is noon Friday, May 16, 2025.

Where: Oak Island Recreation Center • 3003 East Oak Island Drive

The Oak Island Recreation Center will be holding the first-ever Spring Art Show this March. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, March 29, 2025 with the show running through the following week. There will be live music by Jesse Vipperman, finger foods and drinks will be served. Attendees will get a chance to vote for a People’s Choice Award, with ribbons presented to the winners.
