Prospect Park Future Scholars Before Care / After Care Program 2025-2026
First Day of AM/PM Care:  September 5, 2025; Last Day of AM/PM Care: June 22,2026 (Subject to Change)

The Prospect Park Future Scholars Before & After Care Program is happy to announce that we are now accepting applications for pre-K3, pre-K4 through 8th Grade for the 2025–2026 school year at Prospect Park Elementary School (94 Brown Avenue).

Children are supervised by site managers who are highly qualified teachers, aides, and high school/college counselors.

The Future Scholars Program will offer homework/tutor time, sports/physical education time, and overall student engagement. The Borough anticipates arranging daily activities which will include assistance with homework, arts and crafts, sports (when the weather permits to go outside), board games, as well as computer time. The Borough also hopes to offer research-based programs including SMART Moves (a drug, alcohol, and peer pressure resistance program) and Power Hour (a targeted homework supplement program that will build on current learning experiences) or similar types of programs.

Hours of Operation

• Before Care Program begins at 7:30 AM until 8:30 AM at Prospect Park Elementary School (certain dates are excluded).
• After Care Program begins at school dismissal time (3:10 PM) until 6:00 PM at Prospect Park Elementary School.

 Delayed Opening Early Dismissal, and Emergency Closures

• There is NO Before Care Morning Program if we have a delayed opening for any reason.
• On scheduled early dismissal days, the program will begin at dismissal time.
• If there is an emergency early dismissal due to weather or other circumstances, Future Scholars After Care is CANCELLED.

  Before Care Program Only: 7:20 am-8:25am 

  • 5 days $115.00 (first child), $85.00 (for additional children in the same family)

  • 4 days $80.00 (first child), $60.00 (for additional children in the same family) 

  • 3 days $50.00 (first child), $35.00 (for additional children in the same family) 

  • 2 days $20.00 (first child), $15.00 (for additional children in the same family)

  
  

  After Care Program Only: 3:10 pm -6:00 pm

  • 5 days $210.00 (first child), $180.00 (for additional children in the same family) 

  • 4 days $175.00 (first child), $155.00 (for additional children in the same family) 

  • 3 days $145.00 (first child), $130.00 (for additional children in the same family) 

  • 2 days $115.00 (first child), $110.00 (for additional children in the same family)

  
  

  Before & After Care: If the student participates in both programs

  • 5 days $270.00 (first child), $240.00 (for additional children in the same family) 

  • 4 days $235.00 (first child), $215.00 (for additional children in the same family) 

  • 3 days $205.00 (first child), $190.00 (for additional children in the same family) 

  • 2 days $175.00 (first child), $170.00 (for additional children in the same family)

Other Important Information:

• The program is not responsible for any child dropped off earlier than the start time, or that has not been signed in by a parent/guardian or family representative.
• Consistent incidents of late pick up will result in a $25.00 charge per incident.
• School lunches are not served through your child's school on half days; children must bring lunch from home on those days.

Prospect Park Recreation is excited to launch our Flag Football Program this fall!

Cost: $50

Time: 6:00–9:00 PM (1-hour blocks by age group)

Dates: Tuesdays, 9/8 – 10/27

Location: Hofstra Park

This 8-week program is designed for students in grades 1–8 and will focus on the fundamentals of flag football: route running, catching, basic defense, and understanding the game. Each session will include warm-ups, skill drills, and controlled scrimmages in a fun, non-contact environment.

The program is open to residents and non-residents.

Prospect Park Recreation is excited to launch our Youth Baseball Clinic this spring!

Cost: $50

Time: 6:00–9:00 PM (one-hour blocks by grade)

Dates: THURSDAYS, 03/26–05/14

Location: (HOFSTRA PARK BASEBALL FIELD 2)

This 8-week program will run in three sessions each THURSDAYS for students in grades K–8…

K–2 from 6:00–7:00 PM

 3–5 from 7:00–8:00 PM

6–8 from 8:00–9:00 PM

 weather permitting. The clinic is designed to teach the fundamentals of baseball—throwing, catching, fielding, hitting, and baserunning—while building confidence, teamwork, and a love for the game.

The program is open to residents and non-residents.

Dates: Tuesdays, 05/11–06/29

Location: Prospect Park School Gym (TBD)

This 8-week, non-contact program will be run in three sessions each Tuesday for students in grades K–8 …

K–2 from 6:00–7:00 PM

3–5 from 7:00–8:00 PM

 6–8 from 8:00–9:00 PM

The clinic is designed to introduce basic martial arts movements and stances while building balance, coordination, discipline, and confidence in a safe, structured environment. The program is open to residents and non-residents.

Prospect Park Recreation is excited to launch our Indoor Tennis & Pickleball Program this winter!

Cost: $50

Time: 6:00–9:00 PM (1-hour blocks by age group)

Dates: Tuesdays, 11/2 – 12/21

Location: Prospect Park School Gym

This 8-week program introduces students in grades 1–8 to tennis and pickleball through fun, beginner-friendly drills and games. Players will work on hand-eye coordination, footwork, basic racket skills, and simple game play in a safe, indoor setting. No prior experience is required, and all equipment will be provided.

The program is open to residents and non-residents.
