Spring Herb Garden
Spring Herb Garden

with Heather Cusack

It’s Spring, and there is no better time to explore the possibilities of the herb garden. Students will work in the herb garden growing at the Recreation Center and learn how to design their own or care for an existing one.  We will harvest and use the herbs in foods, teas and medicines, and also learn to make medicinal tinctures and cosmetic preparations. You will even be able to take your own creations home with you. Each student will receive an herb plant and resources for local seeds, plants, and compost. Learn to make your own compost, feed the soil, and grow beautiful herbs and flowers! Plants provide us with nourishment, healing and beauty, and also a habitat for the so important pollinators; attracting bees, butterflies, moths, hummingbirds, and dragonflies to your yard. Learn about the uses of sage, rosemary, calendula, thyme, tumeric, ginger, ashwaganda, holy basil, passionflower, peppermint, spearmint and others.

Come prepared to garden with gloves and hand tools. Materials fee is for seeds, plants, compost and ingredients for the concoctions.
