We provide the equipment so you can come out for pick-up games and have a great workout. You must be over the age of 18 and out of high school to join.

Creative Kids: Art

Kids create fun projects that challenge their imaginations, learn to critically solve problems, and explore their creativity.

Location: Lacey Recreation Classroom

Creative Kids: Art Workshops with Ms. Diane

Stitch A Critter Workshop: Artists create their very own plush stuffed friend with soft felt, decorate with different materials, and learn basic sewing stitches. Inside each Critter, the artist will place a handwritten, positive note to remind them about self-love and appreciation.

No Prob-Llama Paint Party: If you're looking for a fun and creative outlet this summer for your little artists ages 7-12, we have just what you're looking for! Children enjoy a fun-filled Two hour painting class where all supplies are included to create a 16x20" acrylic painting on stretched canvas. Step by step Instruction is provided by Art Educator Diane Salkeld to create a featured Painting. Students will be encouraged to make creative choices through the process and will be using their imagination as they develop painting and color mixing skills. They may give the paintings any additions they wish!

Focus on Fitness

The Lacey Township Recreation Department, in cooperation with the Forked River Mountain Coalition and Ocean County Parks, will sponsor a hike to the Forked River Mountain on Thursday, November 6, 2025. We will discuss Pine Barrens ecology, local history, and be able to view the vast pine forest surrounding the mountain. Witness the rebirth of the forest in our first public hike since this past spring’s wildfire.
Depending on the weather, we also hope to view the historic Barnegat Lighthouse and Hangar Number 1 at Lakehurst. Come visit this part of Lacey that not many people get to see. 

Participants should meet at Gille Park, Manchester Avenue, Forked River at 10:00 am and will be transported to near the base of the mountain by the township recreation bus. The hike is just over a mile long and will last about one hour. We will return to the park at approximately 12:00 pm. Dress for the weather on that day. Closed-toed shoes are required and precautions for ticks should be considered. There is some uneven terrain and mild change in elevation during the hike. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Cost: $3  

Bus departs at 9:30am from Gille Park. Lunch is on your own.

Travel with Recreation to the Grounds for Sculpture for a day trip including a 60 minute guided tour and transportation to and from the Lacey Municipal Building.  Trip will also include time at the facility to browse and enjoy many of the art installations at your own leisure.  Lunch will be on your own.
