Enjoy an enchanting Cream Tea in Wisner House overlooking the beautiful grounds of Reeves-Reed Arboretum. Choose from a selection of fine teas and infusions, then savor freshly baked scones with jam and clotted cream, scrumptious sandwiches, and a sweet treat. Once a country estate, this 13.5-acre public garden is listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places and reflects the work of renowned landscape architects, including Calvert Vaux, partner of Frederick Law Olmsted.

Thursday December 3: Surflight Theater- Holiday Inn

Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn tells the story of Jim, who leaves the bright lights of show business behind to settle down on his farm in Connecticut… but life just isn’t the same without a bit of song and dance. Jim’s luck takes a spectacular turn when he meets Linda, a spirited schoolteacher with talent to spare. Together they turn the farmhouse into a fabulous inn with dazzling performances to celebrate each holiday, from Thanksgiving to the comedy and a parade of hit Irving Berlin songs, including “Blue Skies”, “Easter Parade”, “Steppin’ Out With My Baby”, “Heat Wave”, “White Christmas” and many more!

During the First Session we will be exploring materials, types of brushes and papers.  You will be introduced to a variety of painting techniques including wet on wet, dry brush, salt, crayon resist, splatter, sponge and scratch resist. 

The  Second session consists of a Watercolor Paper Weaving using the knowledge of the techniques previously taught in session one. 

During the  third session we will create a Creative Color Wheel Abstract Still Life utilizing color mixing skills to create primary , primary into secondary and tertiary, neutrals in a simple shapes still life. You will learn color intensity with complements, monochromatic tints and shades. This series is for the absolute beginner but all are welcome to join us. 

 *Please bring an inexpensive watercolor pad 8x10 or 9x12 for practice. All other materials will   be provided by instructor.
