Well, then you are in good company.  For almost 100 years, spirited players have been picking and throwing Mah Jongg tiles from Coast to Coast and now we have it back here at the Town of Southold Recreation Department.  Bring your knowledge, skills and Mah Jongg card, and come join the fun!

Experience the benefits of yoga! This program is perfect for beginning yoga students as well as students of all levels looking to refresh their practice. This class will teach the fundamentals for yoga. Students will learn breathing techniques, how to connect breath to movement, alignment, building strength and balance.

Basic mobility to get up and down from the floor is all that's needed. Students must bring their own yoga mats.

Get exercise with this all-level strength and balance class that builds full-body stability and muscular tone. The structured, functional workout safely guides participants through exercises that improve everyday mobility.

We will begin with stretching then target upper body, core and lower body muscles with squats, lunges, chest and arm exercises and finish with a cool down.

Bring a yoga mat, hand weights, a water bottle.

Adapt classic Pilates movements to a seated format with this accessible, low-impact workout. Designed to improve mobility and build functional strength, this class uses a sturdy chair to help you achieve a stronger body. Begin by waking up your muscles and gently increasing your range of motion. Slow controlled movements will target abdominal muscles to promote better alignment and spinal stability.

Unwind with relaxing, seated stretches designed to release tension and improve overall flexibility.

More fun than you can possibly stand - while seated! Come enjoy this fun-filled game played with a beach ball. Chair volleyball is great for upper body mobility and joint flexibility. It enhances your muscle tone, reflexes, hand-to-eye coordination, and endurance. The game is played with a beach ball and a five foot high net.  Rules are similar to regular volleyball except "cheeks on the chair!"

Yoga practice can provide so many benefits, physically and mentally, and our chair yoga program allows you to participate, even if you have an injury or limited mobility that prevents you from doing the floor poses.  We will work through seated and standing poses only.

American Heart Association Basic Life Support for the Health Care Provider

With Tony Cassone 

American Heart Association Adult/Infant and Child CPR, foreign body airway obstruction in conscious and unconscious patients, use of barrier protection (pocket masks), bag valve mask ventilation (BVM’s) and the use of the Automated External Defibrillator are covered in this course. There is a written and skills evaluation for this program. Students will receive the BLS for Health Care Provider Course Certification along with a study guide. This course will satisfy the requirements of Certification for many First Responders, EMS, Fire, EMT, Paramedic, Nurse, Doctor or Lifeguard. Please be advised that a lot of time is spent on the ground kneeling while practicing CPR, so participants should consider wearing comfortable clothing and bringing padding to kneel on.

Participants must attend both sessions.

NOTE: This class is being held at the Southold Fire Department's Substation, 650 Baywater Ave., Southold
