Join Oak Island Recreation’s Chess Club this year, meeting every Wednesday throughout the season! This club is FREE for every type of player, and for those that would like to learn! Join Oak Island Recreation and Cape Fear Yacht Club for the 30th anniversary of the Oak Island Sailing Camp! Campers will be introduced to the fun of sailing through classroom education and sailing in Dutchman’s Creek. Learn to “ride the wind” in youth sized Optimist dinghies (single handed with student weight under 120 pounds) or in the clubs 420's as two person crews. Campers will learn boating basics, rigging, right of way rules, points of sail and sailboat maneuvers. We will also be covering new STEM skills each week of camp. The first Monday's of each week of the camp, there will be a trip out to Brunswick Community College to perform a swim test, just to make sure our participants are safe and ready to go!
