Paint your own pumpkin and bring it to the Recreation Center to be judged for a prize! The Oak Island Recreation Department will award First, Second, and Third Place prizes for the best painted pumpkins. Drop off day is Monday, October 21, between 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Pumpkins will stay on display through Tuesday, October 29, when they will need to be picked up by 2:00 PM. For any questions, contact Emily Kincer at ekincer@oakislandnc.gov. The gym at Oak Island Recreation Center features a wide range of fitness equipment that is available to both Town of Oak Island residents and island visitors. Fitness opportunities range from cardio equipment, free weights, weight machines, and more! Welcomed by a friendly and enthusiastic staff, the gym is open for operation 6 days a week, making it the ideal island resource for those seeking to maintain a regular workout routine.

  • Memberships for the gym do NOT include fitness classes.
  • Members must be 16 years of age or older. 16-17 year olds must have a parent of legal guardian sign an activity waiver in person at the Recreation Center prior to use of the gym at Oak Island Recreation Center. 
  • Just to note this is the Oak Island Recreation Fitness Facility, there is no pool available.
