This is a 4 wheel beach wheelchair that can NOT be broken down and needs a truck to transport it. 

From March 15th - October 15th Wheelchairs can only be rented for 48 hours. 

Starting January 1, 2027 there is a fee per chair per day that is due when rental is made. 

Residents $10 per day, Non-Residents $13 per day

Day you pick up the chair a $50 CASH refundable deposit is to made, as long as all parts and pieces and no damage is made to the chair you will receive that $50 cash back when the wheelchair is dropped off at the end of the rental.

Between The Lines: Book Club (2026)

Share your love of reading with other members of your community with Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department’s Book Club. “Between The Lines” will feature a new book each month for participants to dive into tantalizing discussion as we navigate through a variety of genres. Bring your book, a chair, and some snacks, as we meet at different areas throughout Oak Island, with the Ocean Education Center being our home base. Participants are responsible for purchasing their own copy of their book with pre-registration required. "Between the Lines" will meet monthly from 2:00 -3:00 PM at TBA locations.

This year, after the success of the series last year, we will continue to pick books from our "Crafted in Carolina" collection. This set of books will contain stories that take place in North Carolina or were written by North Carolinian authors. In the past year, we covered several books by several different authors, all with a piece of North Carolina embedded within them, and we are excited to continue this collection in 2026!
