Growing up in the beach side community of Malibu, Southern California I enjoyed  an active lifestyle of surfing, volleyball, swimming, biking, running, horse riding & snow skiing.

Embracing this lifestyle throughout the years has taught me to take exceptional care of my health to give me vitality & strength well into the later years of life.

I was fortunate to gain an athletic scholarship for Volleyball to UCLA as a starting Varsity setter. After graduating with a B.Sc. Kinesiology in 1980 I dived into the then new sport of Triathlon and  enjoyed a competitive career that spanned over 30 years & included racing  both in the USA & Australia as a professional in the earlier years to an elite and age group athlete.

I have been in the fitness industry since 1980 as a Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, Triathlon Coach, High School Volleyball Coach & Head Strength Training Coach.

Having moved to Oak Island in 2018 I worked at Cape Fear Fitness as a Personal Trainer & Group Fitness Instructor teaching a combo step & strength class titled Sweat; my own class design called Multifit; & a TRX class. I enjoyed a good run of this up until August of 2025 when I was diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer & needed to take medical steps that meant I had to leave my work at Cape Fear Fitness.

I finished all treatment in January of 2026 & while I kept up my strength  training & cardiovascular fitness during my treatment months as best I could, I needed to
focus on rebuilding my strength & fitness if I was going to return to teaching group fitness classes. Well, I am excited to be back & I have chosen to bring my Multifit class to the Oak Island Recreation Center schedule of great classes.

I started Multifit in 2007 in Malibu with a group of ladies ranging in age from 50’s into 80’s & continue to work with a small core of these ladies on a zoom workout three days a week. The class includes strength training using resistance bands & hand weights, corrective exercises for shoulders & hips, balance challenges, agility patterns, low impact, abs & core, & finishing with stretching to bring down the nervous system from a good workout.

I enjoy helping others work towards their fitness goals & having fun to good music while doing it! I hope to see you in class!
